To go even further, the Grand Cherokee is also able to tow quite a bit, just over three and half tons for that matter. While the Eco Diesel is very appealing on the fuel economy front, other engine options can provide even more power. 

Standard is the Pentastar 3.6 liter, V6 engine that can output 290 horsepower which is more than enough for the casual driver. For those looking to boost up performance substantially, drivers can opt in for a 5.7 liter, V8 engine which churns out 360 horsepower and is known to be more efficient on fuel compared to V8 used in previous versions of the Grand Cherokee. 

In light of the engines, they can be paired up with the new 8 speed automatic transmission. The 8 speed transmission is something completely new to the Jeep Grand Cherokee in efforts to help lower fuel conception and provide a much smoother ride. As far as drive train options that are available, drivers can choose Quadra I, II, or III. Each will assist in situations when corrective action is needed due to tire slippage on the road. 

With each tier, however, more technology is incorporated which helps in corrective action and even having the capability to constantly monitor driving conditions and anticipate when future slippage can occur.
