About High Point North CarolinaHigh Point, North Carolina, is a city located in the heart of the Piedmont Triad. With a 2010 population of 104,371, High Point ranks as the ninth-largest municipality in the state. The city is known for many things, but most renowned for its furniture, textiles, and bus manufacturing. More impressively, High Point is also home to three esteemed universities: Laurel University, South University, and High Point University. The city resides within four separate counties, which include Forsyth, Davidson, Randolph, and Guilford County with most of it located in the latter county. The city was settled before 1750, but it would take another 100 years for it to become incorporated in 1859. The city began opening its many factories in 1889. Presently among its top employers are Bank of America, High Point Regional Health System, Guilford County Schools, City of High Point, Thomas Built Buses, Ralph Lauren, and High Point University, respectively.
