Three Tips for Getting the best price on your New or Used Car

So you are heading to the dealership to shop and purchase a new car, but want to get the best deal on your current one. Here are a few tips that will help ensure that you are getting the top dollar price for yours.

1.) You want to know the different between Trade in Value and Selling it out right. Typically selling your car out right is more work if you are selling to a private buyer. You will need to research the laws in your state, along with how to make the sale official. There are lemon laws that protect buyers from getting a bad deal on their new or used cars. You will also need to know about Title transfer and other similar items.

2.) Check Kelly Blue Book. This is a very well known, trusted resource for finding the best price for your car. You can use it to find prices on new and used cars. Remember, your price will vary based on a number of things such as wear and tare on your car. You will need to know a lot about your car to get the correct numbers. You might find that the trade in value is lower then if you were to sell it privately. Kelly Blue Book is always a great site for making sure you are getting the best deal on your NEW car.

3.) Keep up with routine maintenance and upkeep for the best possible outcome. If your car is well cared for you WILL get more for it. Pets and smoking inside the car will also lower the value.

When shopping for a new car, ask for what you want. When we bought our last car, we had a list of things that we wanted. We were upfront and gave that list to our salesman. He was able to find us a few options on the lot and find even more at sister dealerships. In the end, we were able to get everything we wanted and we didn't have to pay more for them to get the vehicle shipped in from another location. Your salesman wants you to be happy with your purchase and they will fight hard to get you EVERYTHING on your wish list.
